D&D 3E/3.5 Psionics 3 vs 3.5 questions

I recently picked up a used copy (4 bucks!) of the 3rd ed version of the psionics handbook should my group ever play Eberron, I might be interested in playing one. I saw there's 3.5 version out too the Extended Psionics, is there any huge differences between the two? I skimmed the 3.5 Psionics SRD and it looks like they added a class and powers.

If one made a character using the 3rd ed rules, would it be weaker than say a 3.5 monster or rival character? I thought the barbarian and ranger in 3.5 were much better than 3.0 so I figured the same applied here too. I have not finished reading my book so I didn't read the 3.5 SRD all the way.

The changes to psionics in the 3.5 book are extremely far-reaching, including changes to tons of powers, all the classes, etc. I would not personally want to use the 3.0 rules with 3.5 available, psions are much more flexible/interesting to play now.

I have both books and if you are playing in a 3.5 campaign, then you want the XPH, not the PsiHB. The new book has a much cleaner mechanic than the older book. My PsiHB is a space holder on my shelf while the XPH is being used in my campaign right now. My advice would be to get the new book and use it.

I had a feeling the XPH would be better. Does anyone have a link to a nice formated SRD version? I'd buy one from rpgnow as well. I downloaded the SRD from Wizards, would be great if Mongoose made a pocket guide for this as well.

Not to argue with PC (since it's all a matter of taste), but I prefer THIS html version of the SRD.

The d20SRD.org version has the bonus that it is searchable, but the Sovelior/Sage version has the bonus that you can download it to your hard drive so you can use it when you are off line... I also like the organization of the Sovelior/Sage version better.

Definitely Definitely 3.5. Major major improvements. Complete overhaul. 3.0 psions sucked, plain and simple. They're actually decent now.

In the official version, yeah, pretty much. But with all the psionics supplements Malhavoc put out, they were quite powerful even in 3.0, really. I'd rate the 3.0 Psion with ITCK/MS among the most powerful classes there; this also comes from actual experience, one player had one of those in a campaign played from 1st through 15th level.

They're actually decent now.

What an understatement. :D
