PsiWarrior/Mindblades

Is there any way for a mindblade to actually specialize in their weapons? PsiWars don't qualify until after 6th level, at which point they already have specialization.

As a side note, what is the most effective race/class combination for a Mindblade?

Yes, you can specialize in them since they are treated as other weapons (shortsword and then longsword I believe) and it states that any feats usable with them effects the mind blade (I think, don't have my Psi HB with me)

Best combination is even harder, since it requires you to have psychic warrior or fighter/psion levels leaving limited advancement opportunities...I'd have to think on it.

Ummm... I was under the impression that the feats for Short/Long swords did not carry over... it says the mindblade functions like a short/long sword, but it doesn't say that the feats carry over from the weapons.... with items that work that way (ie. Sunblade), it mentions that the feats work on it...

I always assumed that the feats carried over for Mindblades. Note that the description of the ability states that the Mindblade works identically as a Shortsword.

That tells me that those feats carry over.

I'd say stick to Shortsword early on and then in the Soulknife text it says "feats which apply" blah bah to shortswords blah blah. Seems to me any shortsword feat will carry over to a Mindblade.

Because the Mindblade changes types, its description says that you can specialize/focus on the mindblade itself.

There is a way of getting the specialization; it just involves taking a psion level just prior to taking Mindblade levels. A character would wind up being a PsyWar 5/Psion 1/Mindblade 1, then taking the 6th level of PsyWar...

wait that still doesn't give the Weapon Focus... I don't remember what we did to get this stuff to work... and I've gotta go leave for work as well...
