PSP - got one now :)

First Post
Bought me a shiny new PSP (slim & light; ice silver) yesterday.

Now looking for game recommendations.

I got...

- Tekken Platinum (was bundled with the PSP)
- Alien Syndrome (hey, it was reasonably cheap and looked fun)
- Capcom Classics Reloaded (totally retro)

Going to buy...

- WH40K Squad Commander (heard only good things about this)
- God of War (same)
- SEGA Mega Drive Collection (sounds like a nice mix)
- Lego Star Wars (played this on a friend's PS3, fun little game)

A bit sceptical about...

- D&D Tactics (went from almost sure buy to... not quite sure about it, after reading some reviews)

So, any recommendations?

Any of you got D&D Tactics and how do you like it?

Also, what kind of accessories do you consider mandatory or useful (apart from a bag, UMD cases and earphones, which are obvious enough)?

Wipeout: Any of them, because they are awesome racing games.
Patapon: Patapatapatapon! Rhythm games are fun, but this thing is legalised crack. Just wish you could pause it though.
God of War: I know its on your list, but I'll be damned if it isn't so AWESOME that it deserves to be mentioned again!
Lumines: Really cool, sedate puzzle game. Like Tetris, but funkier.
Raw VS Smackdown 2K7/8: Liking wrestling is a big bonus, but these are suprisingly deep and challenging fighting games when it gets down to it. And absolutely killer for multiplayer, although the learning curve can be really brutal.

Good and large memory cards!

Good games I actually played:
- Lemmings (it's addictive, it's fun, it's a classic!)
- Pattapon (It's addictive, it's fun, it'll be a classic!)
- Untold Legends (quite the addictive hack 'n slash RPG)

Im loving FF7:Crisis Core. It actually has well over 30 hours of gameplay if you do a decent amount of the side missions.

I'd recommend Jeanne d'Arc if you like turn based strategy style games. I have D&D Tactics but haven't spent more than an hour with it yet. My first impression was that it was a bit clunky...

I think clunky is a pretty good description of D&D Tactics. It's not at all bad, but I think a straight D&D conversion (which it really is, other than lack of multiclassing) is too much for a handheld (or even console) game. There's just too much game and too few input devices, you really need a mouse and keyboard.

The Warhammer Game (the squad one) is pretty awesome, though. Reminds me of the X-com precursor, Laser Squad, only with 3x the scenarios.

If you like driving games, get Test Drive Unlimited. It doesn't have as much stuff as the PC or 360 versions, but the driving model and police chases are better and you can still free roam over Oahu.

Puzzlequest is fun but buggy. Lumines is fun, Lumines II has terrible music (except one song, Regret by New Order)

Anyway, there are a lot of demos you can get, if you want to try something

I will probably get a driving game, as those tend to be quite good on consoles. I have seen Burnout Legends getting some praise as well.

That's good to know, thanks!

I just have a PSP case and earphones, and don't consider anything else mandatory (or even that useful). A big Memory Stick (min. 4 GB) is handy, though, if you intend to put other media on it.

Not sure about what you like, so no recommendations from me. Some of my collection includes, though (incomplete and off the top of my head):
- Jeanne d'Arc - as per VorpalWarrior69's post, great turn-based strategy game
- FF Tactics - as above, if you don't have the PS1 version
- Valkyrie Profile - a turn-based RPG with an interesting battle system, if you don't have the PS1 verion; very story-oriented
- Silent Hill Zero - if you like the Silent Hill series
- Puzzle Quest - a puzzle RPG. Really!
- Crisis Core ~Final Fantasy VII~ - an action-RPG prequel to FF7. Best game on the PSP AFAIC
- God of War: Chains of Olympus - yeah, it's on your list. And it should be!
- Wipeout Pure - if you like the Wipeout futuristic-racing series. Very easy to pick up and play
- Wipeout Pulse - ditto
- Patapon - hilarious and addicting, extremely unique puzzle-and-rhythm game with RPG elements (and a lot of depth)

Hmm... good question... I'm not a console player at all, I never had any console, always computer (PC as of late).

I like a lot of games, though, mostly Story RPGs, Strategic RPGs, Action RPGs, RTS, Tactical games, Arcade-style games. Driving games and Puzzle games are not my favorites, but still something to play every now and then, esp. when they are good, of course.

I'm not so keen on anything anime-related (it must be *really* good), Sports games, Adventures.

Looks like a list I could find a lot of games in, that I might like. :)
