PSP price drop and the DS

Have there been any rumblings about Nintendo dropping the DS price in response to Sony's price drop for the PSP?

I haven't seen anything about a DS price cut. It's selling too well for them to care, imo.

Yeah, in Japan alone, Nintendo can't really make enough to meet demand. And if they did, all they have to do is make it in another color, and they can have huge lines to buy it.

Why? Sony only dropped the price to $169 (US) for their PSP. There is a $40 gap between it and DS. One PSP base unit equals one DS base unit plus a game cartridge.

Oh yeah, but originally it was a $50 difference. Then Nintendo dropped the price to $130, so there was a $70 difference. Now it's down to $40, it's not unreasonable to suspect they might want to raise the gap again. Except the DS Lite is selling so well that they can keep it where it is and don't worry about losing ground.

Besides, the DS has FF III. Which sure as heck got me. It wouldnt have mattered what they charged.

True, but they should try and help software developers really exploit the power of the DS processor. You can only display cute deformed anime icons for so long. Enough with the deformed already.

P.S. I'm waiting for NDS price to drop to $100 (US).

That good, huh? Well, I'll probably be getting a DS at the end of the month. PuzzleQuest, Dawn of Sorrow, and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance are on my game list... might as well add FFIII!

Considering how many people are likely to be getting a DS just for the new Pokemon Diamond/Pearl game? I doubt they're worried to much.
