You should make an exception for this.

There is no such thing as an " exception " to this kind of ban. I am attempting to forsake playing games permanently; I cannot afford such a fracture in the wall of my resolve, and there are games I would far rather play than Portal. Today is the six month anniversary of quitting, and I have not even achieved yet what I hoped to with the prohibition. I cannot go back on it. It would be over completely.

I have already allowed the infractions of watching game videos, reading about games, and coaching other people play games. But playing games myself is strictly off limits. What you propose is somewhat akin to saying to an alcoholic that they should " temporarily lift " their ban on drinking. I do not think I was truly addicted, but games were by far the most appealing outlet for my real problems.

If you had that big of a problem, then you do need to stay away.

Just keep in mind if you do crack, it's no reason to start binging, and go right back to abstinence.
