Problem with PCGen

Mr. Peterson,

I am sorry that you feel that way. I am grateful for your opinion though. I started this thread to find out what publishers thought about PCGen. I was unable to go to GenCon this year so all my information was gleaned second and third hand.

If nothing else I hope this thread will provide insight into publishers thoughts and feelings on PCGen. That information, hopefully, will be put to good use in dealings between other publishers and PCGen.

Again I thank you for your opinion.

Thanks.

Listen, like I said, I think PCGen filled a huge need for the community. I applaud you for that. My decision not to support PCGen was just due to compliance. I am more than happy to see how things go and reevaluate my decision based on your future compliance. I hope you can understand that as a publisher, I was less than enthusiastic about supporting a non-compliant product as it exposes me and others to possible problems and to possible misuse of my content. That was my reservation. It still is my reservation.

I actually wish you the best of luck. I know you have a great fan following for the program. I know tons of people that use PCGen.

Clark,
When we become both OGL and D20 compliant would that be a beter time to reopen negotiations to inputting necromancers material into PCGen?

I wonder if any other publisher is waiting for that to occur. Any other publisher feeling that way?

Leopold-

Of course.

But I'll tell you I wont entertain the idea right away. Its like when I was a kid and I got a lot of speeding tickets. I went a month without one and I was telling my dad how I was now "Mr. Safe Driver" and he said "Go a year without one and then I'll be impressed." Same concept here. I thought you guys were less careful about compliance than you should have been (or less careful than made me comfortable, I guess is a better way to say it). That worried me when it came to trusting you with my content. Just getting compliant wont cure my worry. I will want to see a period of good responsible compliance.

I guess its true what they say that we all turn into our parents...

You know, a link would help. From what I can tell there are 3 PCGen guys posting on this thread and none of them has a link to the website in their sig.

TwinRose have been compliant from the get-go haven't they?

So they say, but as a veteran spectator of the often seen software wars on the open game foundation listservers, I have my doubts. If so, one would hope that they would come forward and prove their case. I've expressed these concerns over the last few months, and nothing has been done to alleviate them. Until that happens, I cannot see them as anything but non-compliant based on the voluminous discussions that have occurred on those dedicated lists.
