Pure Speculation about the new Dungeon magazine

The difference between snail mail dungeon and electronic weekly dungeon is spoilage. With the print magazine everyone got access to the info at the same relative time. If you read these forums you will be compelled to DL the articles as they come out rather than wait to the end of the month, otherwise you'd have to label weekly threads on articles like Tsojcanth as a spoiler.

Huh, speak for yourself. I'm an overseas subscriber. Still waiting for my last issue of Dungeon and last two issues of Dragon. :/ Same time? Not even close.

And every thread on a module SHOULD have a spoiler tag. Not just DM's read the boards.

I have to admit, purely selfishly, that I like the idea of them moving to electronic versions. I subscribe to the Paizo Pathfinder, but I consider the PDF the primary benefit, with the paper copy just a nice addition. I've never had any problems reading on screens and I always find it much easier to organize and find my PDFs than the paper copies. Also, I hate, hate, hate having to wait for the snail mail service to finally manage to deliver my paper copy. Geez, I'm only in a major US city, guys. It's not like I'm on an oil patch in Alaska! It's easier to simply print out exactly what I like without having to scan in the page for handouts. However, I fully realize that I'm in the minority in this.

I have no problems reading on screens either, as I do all the time at work.

But the drawbacks, aside from the fact that I hate that change with my guts are :

- My computer is not located near the gaming table. And NO, I won't refurbish my place, NOR will I buy a laptop over this issue.
- It is quicker to turn pages on a paper magazine than finding the information on screen.
- It does not hurt the eyes as much to read a paper magazine than a screen.
- Have you not noticed that the cost of purchasing paper and ink a an individual consumer costs A LOT more than when you purchase in bulk as a company ?
- The issue could have been avoided altogether by making the magazines print on demand for those who want them in paper.
- I do not care particularly to see the game escalate into a "who has the latest laptop" on the game table because if the DM has one, so the players will want one too.
- And the last thing : this reminds me of work. And that is the last thing I want.

- It does not hurt the eyes as much to read a paper magazine than a screen.

Y'know, I've seen this one a lot. But, am I the only one to remember a large number of issues that were extremely difficult to read because the background image interfered with the text? There were a number of letters in the Dragon columns on this issue as I recall as well.

Ctrl-F is your friend. :)

- I do not care particularly to see the game escalate into a "who has the latest laptop" on the game table because if the DM has one, so the players will want one too.

Now this is a new one. I gotta ask, why? Why would the players want a laptop because the DM has one? That's a very odd complaint IMO.

As I said relative times, it applies here. Your situation is a microcosm of why I don't think people will wait to read the finished PDF. Instead of waiting a month to read a compiled PDF of weekly online articles you are waiting er...yeah, wow...for a compiled monthly printed magazine. I'm glad you agree with the spoiler tag. Anyone else?

What are you people eating that's got you reading so much on the crapper? Eat a green vegetable for God's sake!:)

It's a habit, not a need. Couldn't ask for a quieter place to read, and nobody's gonna bug you. Unless it's the only toilet in the house.

Agreed, my restroom time is at the minimum necessary to get business done. I got comfy lounging chairs for reading. :)
