I've done this dozens of times, I suspect it happens thousands of times every day.

Ah, yes. There's no problem doing that, such as it isn't hard at all to go to Corellia from Coruscant; both in the Core, with well-traveled routes between them that anyone can find.

Think, therefore, of going from San Diego to Boise, Idaho, in a car, windows rolled up and A/C off, and not stopping.

It's quite possible to run around your local area in a small starfighter. It's a lot less pleasant to do so the farther you go, though.
