PX2 reccomendations?

BiggusGeekus - As for other suggestions, tastes vary so widely around here (as you know) that you may want to post some examples of games that you have liked in the past or games that looked cool to you.

Well, I've typically played RPGs, but that was mostly because I liked using a lot of keyboard commands, that doesn't apply with a PS2. It's my first console, so I don't have a lot of experience with other games (never really played my buddy's games) and my wife has none at all.

I picked up Final Fantasy X. It's fun, but not what I was expecting. Lots of cutscenes, which isn't necessarily bad, just not what I'm used to. I like how it's turn based. I got Return of the King with the PS2 as a gift and my aged reflexes are springing into play much in the same way that one would expect from a bucket of dead shrimp.

Ah, totally understandable. My videogaming reflexes are pretty bad, too. Just watch me play sports games like Madden 2004. :)

You may actually want to get your hands on a copy of Final Fantasy Tactics. It'll play just fine on the PS2 but you may need an old PS1 memory card to save. It's a strategy-RPG that has considerably more thinking involved than the typical Final Fantasy (but there are still cut-scenes). However, it won't come close to the detail you are used to with cRPGs.

I'll second the suggsetion for Kingdom Hearts. Very very fun...and since I grew up on Disney characters, its fun to fight with/against them with Final Fantasy characters(even the ones from VII...ick...) thrown in too. Definatly can't wait for the sequel...

Yeah, Kingdom Hearts is a pretty fun game... and for whatever reason my gf actually enjoyed sitting and watching me play it, and she hardly ever does that. I'd have to recommend it as well.

You didn't like 7? BLASPHEMY!! :p I loved nearly everything about 7, honestly. What didn't you like?

[hijack] What didn't I like? Everything. FF6 was better. Nyah. I win. You loose! End of story. Of course...I'm one of those annoying FF players who only enjoy FF1-6(and sometimes Tactics), so who am I, eh? ;) [/hijack]

You do need a PS memory card to save on for PS games, a PS2 card won't work.

You can copy information to a PS2 card to a PS card in the browser to back things up if you wish.

Tekken 4 is gorgeous and a good solid fighter.

If you're going to get a Tekken game get Tekken Tag Tournament, it's a better game than T4.

If you need some exercise/entertainment, check out the various Dance Dance Revolution titles. Though really, it's not much exercise if you don't have the dance controllers, which you usually can't rent. Still... fun stuff :D

Do not buy Prince of Persia - finished the dang thing in less than 8 hours of not-so-serious playing. Once you get the hang of the VERY simplistic puzzles, you can beat them all with your eyes closed. And if you CAN'T beat them with your eyes closed, then you can always use your mondo-time-control powers to complete them. :)

It is a great game, however - but the play is so short and the complexity so shallow that I'd only recommned it as a renter.

I would, however, recommend Manhunt as the sickest, nastiest, coolest stealth-hunting game ever. Buy it now.
