Q : Illumination and distance.

Say, adventurers are sitting by a big campfire. Assume that fire works as a descent light source within 30 ft. radius. Now,

A character without any special vision .... see something within 30 ft. from the fire.
A character with low-light vision .... see something within 60 ft. from the fire.
A character with darkvision .... see something within 60 ft. from him.

Am I understanding correctly?

And, another question. Assume a bunch of monsters found that campfire from distance and try to assault those poor adventurers. One is normal vision, one with low-light vision and another one with darkvision. All of those 3 monsters can have some kind of long range attacks such as bows, throwing rocks or spells. Well then, how far from that campfire or the adventurers can those monsters attack?

From as far away as their weapons/spells allow.

The thing is, you can target somebody you see just fine even if you can not see the space in between you and him.

The normal creature would see a big 30' radius circle, in which there were all sorts of viable targets.

The LL creature would see a big 60' radius circle, in which there were all sorts of viable targets.

The DV creature would see 60' around him, and further away a 30' radius circle (with targets inside).

Thanks!
So the raiders can attack PCs from far. But if the PCs run away from the illuminated area without carrying some light source, monsters may lose PCs right? Hmm, interesting situation. I will try it.
