Q. on skill bonus items

Items that give bonuses to skills tend to be quite limited; +10 to climb or swim checks with the appropriate ring; +10 to hide and move silently with cloaks and boots of elvenkind. A ring of jumping gives a +30 bonus, same as the spell, but that seems about it.

And they all have prerequisites related to the ability; 5 ranks in climbing or swimming, invisibility, jumping, and so on.

What would you use for a pre-requisite for an item that gave a bonus to spellcraft, or knowledge: arcana, or something. A spell? A certain number of ranks of a skill? Or what?

Part of my question relates to the importance of very high spellcraft scores for epic level wizards; to research or cast epic spells they need to make spellcraft DC's of 60 or 100, or even more. An item which gave a bonus of +40 or +100 to their rolls would be quite handy- but what would fair pre-requisites be?
