Question about feats in Call of Cthulhu

Well, in many of Lovecraft's stories, people do meet a god or at least an avatar of a mythos deity. But they usually pass out or panic and have nothing to do with the god's eventual disappearance. It seems like the bonds keeping the Great Old Ones impriosned are strong enough to only allow for short "guest appearances".

A well prepared party might be able to take on a lesser creature and banish/destroy it and anybody can beat up some cultists, so there is still plenty of stuff to do for the PCs - apart from running and screaming...

And whoever said that Cthulhu is weak in the d20 version either has read that pirated ELH copy or needs his head checked;)

I know my biggest complaint about the feats in d20 Cthulhu was the absence of some genre-appropriate feats. Instead, the feat list is crammed with a slew of combat feats. Combat feats are great for the powerhungry ambidextrous two weapon fighting criminal with .50 cal desert eagles (my current character BTW, lol) but if you want something that might last, some more detective and research-based feats would have been nice. I know for our campaign we "stole" some out of the Net Book of Feats to help give our less aggressive (and generally longer living) characters something useful and interesting to pick from. I could post a list if there is interest.

True, they mostly incorporated 'canon' material from D&D with a few more +2/+2 skill bonus feats (which are similar to those found e.g. in Song and Silence). Most non-combat characters in my campaign tend to be trustworthy and/or persuasive, which gets a little boring after a while.

For my current group, it is ok that there are not too many choices to worry about, but some less 'aggressive' ones would be nice. So which NBoF feats did work for you? Most feats in that book are also quite combat oriented, IIRC.

On a semi-related*, self promoting note, I recently developed a system of flaws that allow you to take up extra feats - you can check it out in the Laboratory section of my Web site:

http://chillingtales.tripod.com

This isn't the final version and I know it needs some work - I'm not very happy with the Addict flaw, for example. I'm still tweaking the system and the example flaws, and feedback is always appreciated.

*semi-related because d20 Call of Cthulhu was the game I had in mind while designing my system of flaws.

I hope this may be of some use to you.

My apologies for not responding sooner. Very busy with Gencon preparations.

We added the following feats from the Net Book of Feats

Cross-Class Learning
Fast Mover
Hardy Brawler
Herculean Effort
Hide Tracks
Iron Will

Pidgin
