Question about Illusions

Ok, what I’m wondering about is, what types of illusions can do what. I’ve already decided that figment and glamer are out of the question, largely because they are not mind-affecting and can’t have real effects.

What I need is an illusion of one’s self, which can attack creatures and do real damage - unless the creature makes its save to disbelieve. This illusion is visible to all who are looking at it, and does not disappear even if any targets disbelieve. Striking the illusion may appear to damage it, but it has no hit points and can’t be “killed” by being attacked.

What I’m thinking is, it cannot be a phantasm because phantasms only appear in the minds chosen by the caster. So, maybe it should be a shadow, because shadows are partly real and do real damage – but I don’t want the illusion to be compromised in the minds of targets who make their Will save (they only cease taking damage from attacks when they know it is not real). So maybe it should be a pattern instead?

There is a shadow spell called "Project Image" that comes pretty close to what you are talking about. Maybe check it out and base your spell on it. It is Bard 6th level, Wizard 7th level.

Sort of. It cannot initiate attacks or do physical attacks, but you can cast spells "through" it as if they had originated from it. So the monsters waste time trying to hit "the source of the spells" instead of looking around for you.

hmm, close but not quite. :/ perhaps shadow conjuration/greater/shades or simulacrum will give more clues into how i can work this out.
