Question about Metamagic feats

First Post
I just read something disturbing...in 3.5 you can no longer stack applications of 'Empower spell'? I looked at the 3.5SRD, in the feats section, and found no mention of this. So, I'm hoping that it is incorrect. But if it is correct, could someone please point me to the right page in the right book.

Thank you

From the SRD, at the start of the Feats section:

"Multiple Metamagic Feats on a Spell: A spellcaster can apply multiple metamagic feats to a single spell. Changes to its level are cumulative. You can't apply the same metamagic feat more than once to a single spell."

That last sentence is new to 3.5E, and is the part you're worried about. So yes, you can't Empower a spell more than once. This, overall, is a good thing for the game; Empower became a must-have Feat for most casters because it was the only one that gained benefit from multiple applications. Now, you'll tend to see a bit more variety. Of course, if you're a player who tended to use tons of Empowers, you won't be liking this change...

One Extend is almost as good as two Empowers on Melf's Acid Arrow. Stack a few Extends on a high-level caster's MAA, and you could have an enemy still taking damage from your spell long after he's forgotten what you were fighting about ...

Given that persistant spell is one of the worst balanced feats around, that's a good thing. Gah, I would have thought after all these months I had gotten far enugh away from that feat to calm down a little, but as soon as I see something like this I get the urge to write a 5 page post on what's wrong with the feat (for about the 4th time now).

Multi-Empower was only problematic with a few spells, anyway. Primarly the stat buffs. Multi extend was usualy rather fair for the spell level increase.. in face most meta-magic feats were fine when you applied them more than once... except mabye extended cones and the ones I mentioned above.
