Question about one of the items from Adventurer's Vault

In the weapons section there's the Kukri. It's listed as a light blade, and it's description says that a rogue who's proficient in it's use can treat it like a dagger for the rogues abilities.

My question is, does a player have to take a kukri proficiency, or is it basically just a dagger... so a rogue who's already proficiency in dagger already proficient in it's use?

IIRC, a kukri is a superior weapon, so you would need superior weapon proficiency to get proficiency bonus. You would get the rogue weapon talent bonus without the proficiency tho

It requires a seperate superior weapon proficiency feat.

It's a light blade, but not a dagger.
