Hmmm, that Outlaw War Party seems a very weirdly mixed bag. Any theme? Any rationale? Or just a "kewl factor"?

At least I understand (in vague generalities) the Orcish War Party...

Having seen the promo pictures of all of the minis in the Outlaw War Party, they are pretty generic figures. I suspect that either the designers or the marketers figured that all of the figures in the set could be passed off as bandits, etc., by a DM using the figures in his game. The Owlbear is the rare figure in the set and fits into a forest ambush/forest journey theme (IMHO).

I will agree, it does not seem to be perhaps the most cohesive set idea, I personally would have preferred to see an undead war party for my DM use, but maybe in the future.

Cheers :)

hmmm this is better

Nope, not a rumor, but an actual product. So far, there are two non-randomized products that have been announced. One is an Orc War Party(this one has Kobolds IIRC) and a Bandit War Party...
well this is better...I would be more likely to get this product than buying a bunch of random packs and getting crap.

Since Kobolds are a "Common" model, if this goes like most other collectibles you'll see them pretty cheap on eBay soon enough. With the models coming out to about $1.25 each, I'd expect to see commons for 25 cents or less soon enough.

I generally agree with Thaumaturge, it remains to be seen how the secondary 'market' for the D&D minis shake out.

I suspect though, and if I am not mistaken Thaumaturge hinted at this, one of the primary differences between these minis and the secondary Collectible Card Game market is, there are people like Gundark who actually want a bunch of common minis whereas there may not be a similar phenomenon going on with CCG's.

Admittedly, I'm not even a novice let alone an expert on the secondary CCG market.

We'll just have to wait and see...
