Question about US/Europe compatibility of consoles

Aside from the 110/220 W power issue, does anyone here know if there are there any issues of compatibility between the Will console or other current consoles between the US version and the UK/Europe version? If you buy the console in one country, and games and accessories somewhere else, are there issues?

Thanks

Even though Nintendo originally announced that the Wii would not be region-locked, it now is. So no EU games in a US Wii.

Sony seem to have abandoned the lock on PS3 themselves, but the other games publishers have been given the option to include it on a game by game basis. Which is weird.

360 games are on a game by game basis (just like in the original Xbox). So some are, some aren't.

In other words, go figure. :uhoh:

What about the video compatibility issues?

Europe (and Australia) uses PAL, while North America and Japan uses NTSC. There is very likely to be a problem there.

The PS3 and PSP are region free for games (but not movies), as is the DS. Game developers could presumably add it (by reading the country setting from the firmware), but it's not built into the console.

The Wii is wiigion locked. The 360 gives publishers the option, so it varies from title to title (most of the stuff from Japan is locked, most other stuff isn't, apparently).

So I can't use a foreign wiimote with a US wii?

Thanks for the responses guys.

Regarding the PAL/NTCS issue, I believe that would only be an issue on older tvs.
