Question about White Plume Mountain (Spoiler)

I never played this in the old days, and I just downloaded the ESD. I've got a quesiton about it.

Keraptis is a pretty famous villian in WoG as I understand, but he doesn't actually appear in the S-2 module. Is he detailed in anyother product? I havne't seen the "Return to" version for 2e.

Keraptis is detailed somewhat in the "Return to" version for 3E. Don't expect stats for him though. I don't want to spoil the adventure (even despite the spoiler heading on this thread), but he does appear in the "Return to" version, despite the lack of stats.

Ex Keraptis Cum Amore from Dungeon #77 (2E) features an insane Suel Lich (different from a normal lich, not yet updated to 3E) who thought he was Keraptis, but he wasn't. The adventure has full stats for him.

Most 1e modules were very short. They didn't try to hold the hand of the DM as much as some modern ones do.

Depends one what you mean by short, but I'd say the very early 1e modules were very short, 16 pages. G1, G2, G3 (before they wre combined to G1-3), D1, D2, S2, etc.

1e modules did get longer, in the 80's roughly I suppose. Certainly, they were as long as some the current modules. Sunless Citadal is only 32 pages!

Thanks to everybody above who filled me in on Keraptis.

The best way to think of it is like Kool-Aid.

The early modules were like those 10 cent Kool-aid packets you buy in a grocery store. You have to supply the sugar, water, container and everything else.

The 2nd edition modules were like buying Kool-aid that has already been prepared in half-gallon jugs. :)

It's a bit short, but chock full of fun for the DM and goodies for the players...if their characters survive!!

Wave is yours, if my PC gets Whelm :).

So, I guess the point is No. Keraptis doesn't appear in the first or second edition modules. He is one of those "EPIC" behind-the-scenes forces that should make PC's tremble in fear. I think stats for Szass Tam from FR would work effectively, from out of the EPIC Handbook.
