Just a quick poll to satisfy my curiosity: on average, how many people do you thnk would end up reading or using copies of Dragon and/or Dungeon that you would buy (including players that DMs run Dungeon adventures for).

About half of the guys in my current group read my magazines. They aren't interested in buying- usually because of costs- but like the 'zine & my collection of it goes back to #44, so they have a lot to browse.

The other half are not interested in it at all- they simply don't like the mags. The only time they use material out of them is when their DM is using it.

Thus, when I stop getting my print version, WotC won't get me as a subscriber because I don't like digital periodicals, about 5 other readers will be lost (unless they can scrounge the dough for an online sub of their own), and its probable that they won't gain any new readers from the rest of the group.

Just me. No one else likes to look through tons of magazines to find what they want. Two guys in my group thought about it, but now that WOTC is doing their digital initiative they lost two buyers and they lost me cause I dont pay for online content.

I bought the magazines faithfully up until January when

a) the prices went up on both magazines

and

b) I bought my Wii

The price of those two magazines is almost as much as half of a Wii game or a WOTC book. I keep myself to a budget (of some sorts) and I can't spend my money on everything (I've got kids and stuff).

I read them, often use the maps in Dungeon since they became better with Piazo at the helm, but rarely used the articles in game. Since I am a d20 publisher, I mostly used them as inspiration for other ideas, rule mechanics, and adventures.

That's the skinny from my neck of the woods.

My friends would sometimes take a glance at them: enough to see if anything was relevant to their character, and perhaps read the comics. I was the only one to read them cover to cover.
