Everybody, don't forget that the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting already supports Epic Level characters. Sure, the rules aren't as cool as what will be in the ELH, but the rules are there. Also, there is one very important fact you don't want to forget. The ELH is not a replacement for the epic level rules in the FRCS. The ELH is a separate module that can replace the rules in the FRCS. However, FRCS can funtion completely on it's own without the ELH. So...if you don't want to wait, you can use the FRCS epic level rules. WotC even stated that they would convert the NPCs from FRCS into the rules found in the ELH, just in case you decide to use the ELH.
