Question on Monster Saves

I´ll take an example for my question: Red dragon, colossal

It says on MM that his attack bonus is +49, but it surely does not include Str bonus, because dragons gain 1 attack bnonus for each HD they have, so it´s the basic 10 on lvl 1 plus 39 other until 40 HD. So the real attack bonus for this dragon is 49+17 = 66

So here is my question: Are the characteristics bonus to this dragons saves already added on the saves listed or not?

I think this applies to all the monsters listed on MM.

What your missing is that it's not a Base +10 for a Wyrmling Red Dragon. The Wyrmling Red Dragon has 7 Hit Dice, and a Str, of 17. 7 + 3 = +10

So, yes, The Great Wyrm Red Dragon's Attack Bonus is correct, all monsters in the MM are ready to run without any math needed. (Thankfully for people like me)

I am not certain what you are talking about, but all attack bonuses and DCs listed for creatures in the MM are supposed to include all ability bonuses.

Your calculation of the colossal red dragons attack bonus seems odd. (My girlfriend's son borrowed my MM, so I cannot check.)

But a dragon has the same BAB as a fighter, so a 40 HD dragon has a BAB of +40, just like a level 40 fighter. Add strength bonus (and any feats and stuff it might have) to this and remember to subtract size modifier (-8 for a colossal thing).

I take it that the dragon has a strength of 44, giving it a +17 bonus, subtract 8 for size, add to BAB, voilà +49!

What is the basic 10 at level 1? Henrix's calculation is correct. The dragon gets +1 for each HD it has, plus strength minus size. This amounts to 40 (40 HD) +17 (45 Str) -8 (Size Colossal) which equals a total of +49.
