Question on Monstrous Compendium #11 – Forgotten Realms Appendix II
If you have this book, I want your opinion on a certain creature and a possible (likely, that is) typo. The fachan in this book is a halfling-sized little fellow with a single footpad. Yet, the movement rate is listed as 90 (swim 150)! Keep in mind that in 2E, humans had a movement of 12. for those who aren't sure, 90 would translate into roughly a speed of 250 these days. There seems to be no other indication in the text that this creature is superhumanly fast. And this version of the fachan (there are other versions of the fachan in other places) never appeared in any other book that I am aware of, so I don't have any other set of stats to compare to for accuracy.
So, do you think that the typist mistakenly added a couple of 0's and the editors never caught the mistake, or were these springy little guys really supposed to move like the wind? A movement of 9 (swim 15) would become more like a speed of 20 (swim 40), which seems to make a hell of a lot more sense.
