Yes; Yes/No.

Yes you can use it on XP and you can save items as 2003 compatible. Works fine.

Also, you can download an add-on to Office 2000, XP, and 2003 that lets them understand the new XML formats. I like the new UI, but the biggest reason I'd like to switch is because the new file format for Excel loses the 64K row limit.

The biggest reason for me to switch was because I've been using Office 97, and got Office 07 Professional for free...

Yes it is. I have it installed and it seems to work well (in very limited use so far).

What's the skinny compared to Office XP? Ease of use and functions, etc?

Word is nice. The ribbon bar makes generating tables and font effects easy to use, and allows you to preview different style before you apply them. Haven't had a chance to work with excel as much though. I was just glad vba was still there.
