WOIN [Question] Psionic exploits and defense

Hello
It's Drekin here :D

I've been looking over the psionic exploits from careers and universal now and I've run into a problem.

Electrokinetic blast. (From Battlepsysche)
You blast an opponent with a range increment of 4Squares with a bolt of focused electricity. Make a PSI vs. DEFENSE attack; if you succeed, you do 2d6 electricity damage. You may repeat this exploit once, increasing the damage to 3d6.
Pyrokinetic blast (requires AGI 6, PSI 6). (From Universal)
You blast an opponent with a range increment of 10' with a cascade of fire. Make a PSI vs. DEFENSE attack; if you succeed, you do 1d6 per 2 PSI fire damage.

As far as I can see they ALL just say PSI vs. defense... which defense?

Please advise

Same rules as usual. No different to any other attack. MELEE DEFENSE for a melee attack, RAGED DEFENSE for a ranged attack, MENTAL DEFENSE for a mental attack, and VITAL DEFENSE for an area attack.

So any "physical" psionic exploit like throwing lightning would be RANGED DEFENSE?
