Question regarding AoO's and Sunder

Sunder, on the other hand, is a standard action. And doesn't have footnote 7.

Oddly enough, though, the text in the SRD is written as though someone thought it did. :)

You can use a melee attack with a slashing or bludgeoning weapon to strike a weapon or shield that your opponent is holding.

Compare, for example, to Trip, which does bear the footnote:

SRD said:
You can try to trip an opponent as an unarmed melee attack.

As well as Disarm:

SRD said:
As a melee attack, you may attempt to disarm your opponent.

What can you do when you take the Sunder Standard Action? The Sunder Standard Action allows you to use a melee attack with a slashing or bludgeoning weapon to strike a weapon or shield that your opponent is holding.

What can you do when you replace a melee attack with the Disarm action, once in an attack or charge action, one or more times in a full attack action, or as an attack of opportunity? When you take the Disarm action in one of these ways, as a melee attack, you may attempt to disarm your opponent.

I'm aware of the actual rules. However, the format of the rules - especially when compared to the other situations - can easily lead people astray.

For instance:

I am full-attacking with my longsword. Can I sunder with one of my three iterative attacks?

Hmm, I'm making a melee attack with a slashing weapon, so I can "strike a weapon or shield that [my] opponent is holding."

Sunder should, instead, be written more like Manyshot: "As a standard action, you may make a single melee attack with a slashing or bludgeoning weapon to strike a weapon or shield that your opponent is holding."

That would clear up the remaining confusion, I believe.

It is written that way. It's just that the first four words are found elsewhere ;)

Remember that you can't respond to an interrupt with an instant. Oh, wait, they got rid of interrupts.

LOL... I'm still trying to figure out if you can Fork a TimeWalk. A game I played 10 years ago depends on the ruling, and I'd like to know if I won or not!
