Question: Shaman Multi-Classed Druid...

Side note: Half-elf (because being able to use pounce at-will in beast form while commanding your spirit protector is just cool).

Anyway... here's where I can't quite figure out if this works:

:: Is your spirit companion considered a primal summoned creature?

Here's why this is important... If it IS considered a primal summoned creature (and I could easily go either way on this) there's a couple of feats that could apply to the spirit companion, but one in particular:

-- (11th Level): Primal Summoning Expertise - "You can use a minor action to give a standard action command to a summoned creature"

Obviously you can see the way this could go... If you don't move in a turn, you could effectively Pounce, Heal and command your spirit companion to attack also.

That said, obviously the spirit is primal, and obviously it is summoned, but I'm not sure if it counts as a "summoned creature" for the use of this feat (and others).

Any help appreciated.

The companion spirit is a conjuration, not a summoning.

What erleni said is accurate.

The companion is classified as a conjuration, and therefore summoning-related bonuses/feats/powers/effects do not apply to it.

It's a small distinction that is easy to miss but it makes a big difference for stuff like this.

Not to mention, spirit companions have no command abilities, and thus the ability to give it a standard action command would be like giving an inert rock a free melee basic attack. It does nothing.
