Questions about 3.5e (that we may be able to answer)

I really don't want to burst your bubble, folk, but really, Ambidexterity has NEVER been a prerequisite to TWF. In fact, Two-Weapon Fighting has NO prerequisite.

Here's the feat straight from the source:

From the SRD
Two-Weapon Fighting [General]
Benefit: The character's penalties for fighting with two weapons are reduced by 2.

See ? Not even a Prerequisites: entry.

Anyway, Ambidexterity is going to be suppressed totally. You'll get its benefits when you take TWF. But that don't mean Ambi is "no longer" a prerequisite, it never was. Sigh.

See d20 Modern for how this will probably work in D&D 3.5- they streamlined two-weapon fighting and gave Ambidexterity the boot. The Two-Weapon Fighting Penalties table shrinks from 8 combinations of penalties (D&D 3.0) to 5 combinations of penalties (d20 Modern).

You're taking the name "3.5" way too seriously. WotC had no intention of calling the revision 3.5, but the fans and opponents started calling it that.

Actually, they discussed the philosophy behind calling it 3.5 in a recent Dragon... They chose 3.5 because they wanted it to be the only major definitive revision for 3e.

;) But that's neither here nor there, really...

Sooo... the ethereal ooze (in the FF) doesn't receive bonus hps for size, but all the constructs seem to. Is this an official change or a mistake?

Also, the disenchanter has Improved Disarm without Expertise... oversight, exception to the rules or change?

No one that bought TWF ever went without Ambidexterity; you needed the latter to make the former worthwhile, but the reverse wasn't true. (It was true, however, that it usually wasn't worth buying unless handiness was a regular issue.) This makes TWF dependant upon Ambidexterity, which makes Ambidexterity a de facto prerequisite for TWF (and all further down that chain).

That's the truth of the matter, which is why people applaud at the death of Ambidexterity's independant existance. All is now as it should've been from the get-go.

When you think about it, TWF makes you proficient in Two-Weapon Fighting; since being proficient in the use of the weapon reduces the pentaly to use that weapon by 4 (making it 0), TWF should reduce the TWF penalty by 4, as well. Why is being able to use both arms equally more useful than being SPECIFICALLY TRAINED in simultaneously wielding two weapons?
