Questions about Astral Projection

Interesting thread. A few more things:

- If you scribe a scroll while astral, using real paper, does it survive when you go back to your body? (I assume yes, if you are using real ink and materials)

- Is the astral form subject to ability/level damage/drain? I would find it funny if an astral form is subjected to Negative Energy. In any case, would the body suffer such drain as well? (From the discussion here, I would assume only Int, Wis or Cha, maybe level, drain/damage would remain)

I just wanted to say that this is a really cool and clever way of relating astral projection to other spells, and it makes a lot of sense. Good integrity too. I'll certainly use this rationale if my campaign ever reaches those heady heights!
Thanks!

Thanx PS! I am just not very good in remembering a lot of obscure rules, :) so I always try to find some rationale or logic behind the rules. And this one appeared pretty solid.

Sure. If you 'scribe' an enemy to death with your sword while astral, he still dead when you go back to your body. You just cannot take the scroll with you.

If you are afraid of abuse you could rule that astrally projected items that are separated from the astral traveller start to disintegrate, becoming more and more translucent and vanishing into a few splashes of ectoplasm after a minute. I think Astral Spell should be abusable to some extent, its a 9th lvl spell after all. If 17th+ level mages want to sell fake astral equipment for a few hundred gold pieces, they should be allowed to.

I don't think many multiversal shopkeepers will fork over thousands of gold pieces for an item unless they verified its authenticity. The buyer will be beware, he might not even deal with people he doesn't know, doesn't trust, or won't be subject to Zone's of Truth or the like. If you like playing hardball with your players, you could always have one of their prize items turn out to be astral, and the traveller just returned after home after a few years on the prime. ;)

The expendable items (scrolls) may pose a more serious problem. You could always choose to rule that expendable magic becomes inert when astrally projecting. Its still a scroll with nice sigils, only without the magic.
