Questions about Familiars

Thanks to everyone who replied to my questions about counterspelling. Here are yet more silly rules questions from me.

1. What happens to a familiar when its master dies? Does it remain a magical beast or does it revert to being a normal animal? If the master is raised from the dead, does the animal remain or become her familiar again?

2. A question about the Cancer Mage from the Book of Vile Darkness: if the Cancer Mage is killed and then raised from the dead, is her tumor "familiar" also raised from the dead?

A familiar remains a magical beast after it's master is deceased, and it becomes the masters familiar again if he is raised.
