Questions about Illithids and Invisibility

1. In the MM it states that the Mind Flayer's Mind Blast ability is spell-like (sp). Has this been errated to supernatural (su)? I guess I'm not clear as to why it should be spell-like since it doesn't duplicate the effect of any spell and the Psi Handbook wasn't out before the MM was released.

2. What do you guys think about Dust of Disappearance? It is both cheap and easy for a Sor/Wiz to produce en masse. It says that the individual cannot be detected by magical means. Too powerful? If not, how do you think I should handle it as DM?

It's spell-like presumably because it provokes an AoO when used.

It is pretty good. At the very least, make sure that dust of appearance is also readily available.

I think it's great, and the price is just fine considering that you can't be detected. A potion of improved invisibility is only 1,400gp, a scroll is only 700gp, but you can be magically detected in both cases. However, for a whopping 3,500gp (2.5 times the cost of a potion, and 5 times the cost of a scroll) you can't be detected.

I don't have a problem with that.

In the PsiH psionic attack modes such as Mind Blast (but not powers) have been errata'd to supernatural, that still draw AoOs. Before and after the errata, psionic attack modes ignore SR and PR, so the 2e Mind Flayer becomes a little more dangerous.

An invisible Mind Flayer using Mind Blast becomes visible.
