D&D 5E Quick Battle Master question

The High Aldwin
I've never played a BM and decided in my next game I might give it a try. But, from the text of Combat Superiority when you learn additional maneuvers it doesn't specify it must be "in this class" when you gain levels.

I've looked in the errata and online and cannot find confirmation one way or the other.

Do you only gain additional maneuvers when you gain higher levels in the Fighter class or when your character level advances to the level required?

I am sure the RAI is for it to be only when you gain levels as a Fighter... but since it doesn't specify that, I could see it going either way.

Has anyone found anything more definitive on this?

Thanks!

Personally I don't think a subclass feature and a class feature have enough of a difference that the design intent would change in this instance. Mind you, that is just my opinion. On a mechanical note, it would be odd that one specific fighter subclass would keep advancing while none of the others do.

I'm not sure what stops a subclass feature from being a class feature? The subclass features are afterall listed on the class feature progression chart at the beginning of each class entry.
I would argue that class features all PCs of that class get as where subclass features are unique to each particular subclass? 🤷‍♂️

It's a minor point...so meh

All fighters do get a subclass feature though. Thus one could say that gaining a subclass feature is a class feature of all fighters.

It is minor difference though. This reading allows the RAI to technically be correct and the other doesn't. I've never understood why that when things can be read different ways, the way that makes the book be "wrong" is always the way people want to choose ;)
