Quick Question About Spells Like "Darkness"

When I said that the darkness spell works like light (only the other way around), I meant light, not light. I mean the stuff that comes from candles, the sun, mag-lites and the like, not the spell in D&D. In a way, the darkness spell produces thgil, just as a daylight spell produces light.

So a window won't help you, as light goes through glass, but paint the glass totally black and it woll block thgil.
And I think thgil won't be blocked by a person (note that even in a shadowy area you can still see something, it's just not as dark as anywhere else.)

I know, & I'm saying that's a bad way to describe it. See the "Shadow" drawing I did, the "Shadow" area would be devoid of magical darkness, & that doesn't happen. Now do you see why I'm opposed to that kind of description. A darkness spell does not work just like "natural light sources" (only the other way around). Just as Magical light does not work just like "natural light sources".

From the PHB
"If the spell is cast on a small object that is then placed inside or under a lightproof covering, the spell’s effects are blocked until the covering is removed."
After re-reading the spell yes I do agree that opacity is a contributing factor & in the case of windows they indeed would need to be "Blacked out" to stop the spells effect, provided that they are bigger then 1sqr. ft. (opening size, again see the drawing). It was a silly question & I should be flogged for asking it

You're lucky if I never get my hands on a photo of you and some toe-nail clippings or the like :p
