Quick Question about stacking levels

When creating a multi-class character, what do I do if a class ability says to use the characters 'level', as opposed to 'character level' or 'class level'.

My specific example is a rogue 1/monk 8. Do I get 8 or 9 stun attacks per day (stun can be used once per 'level' per day) and similarly can I use wholness of body to heal 16 or 18 hp per day?

Anything that refers to someone characters level means you add up all their levels to determine how powerful the efefct of whatever is in question is. In the case of Stunning Fist for a monk, they get 1 use of the ability per day per monk level, plus an additional use for every 4 levels in any number of any other classes, as per the Stunning Fist entry on page 101. Wholeness of Body clearly states it depends on the monk's monk levels.

Are you using 3E or 3.5? in 3.5, it says that you get one per monk level +1 per every 4 levels in other classes. 3E, my group always ruled it as per class level.

Sorry, I forgot about 3.5e. I'm using 3e. I agree that class level makes sense, I was just wondering if there was an official answer to what 'level' means for a multi-class character

I am fairly certain that the 3e FAQ clarified this by saying that the term "level" used in the class descriptions meant "class level" not "character level."
