Quick question on Stunning Attack

So a fighter who likes to fight unarmed gets the stunning fist feat. Then later he multiclasses into wizard. His DC's still keep going up as he raises levels.

A monk who decides to multiclass into fighter never improves his DC anymore.

That just seems dumb to me.

or as the saying goes ...

Monks got the shaft! :)

Monks aren't suppossed to multi class. I think that is why the limitation is there.

So they aren't supposed to prestige class either?

It's just silly and doesn't make any sense. Oh well, it's easy enough to house rule it so it increases with character level, not just monk level.

I wonder if there is any place where is specifically says that anytime we mention "level" in a class description we always mean "class level" unless specifically stated as "character level"? Or is that just an assumption?

Actually I think there are several prestige classes that allow the monk to keep their abilties and use feats and such as if they were a Monk of the same level.

A Monk's Stunning Attack is considered to be the same as Stunning Fist for things that have Stunning Fist as a prereq, but they are not the same thing.

Were a Monk to take Stunning Fist, you would keep two seperate pools, one for Stunning Attack and one for Stunning Fist. For a single class monk, this has the net result of giving additional Stunning Attacks per day. For a multi-classed monk (who isn't in a class that simply advances their monk abilities), he would have a number of Stunning Attacks per day at a DC appropriate to his Monk level only. These would never raise again. He would have a number of Stunning Fist attacks per day at a DC appropriate to his character level that would rise as per feat description.

That's the way that makes the most sense to me; you don't get any more or any less that you are supposed to.
