Quick Question(s)

Just had a quick question about the Monster Geographica series from Expedious Retreat Games. Basically, I was just wondering (if anybody is familar with them) if they have some conversions of some of the older edition D&D creatures in it, and if they, are they like the Tome of Horrors in respect to being a type of official source for the creatures that are converted (or something to that respect, I can't spit out what I'm trying to say, hope it is understood). I'm interested in picking them up regardless, it just helps with some of the list i'm trying to put together. I was also seeing if anybody had a list of the creatures in those books (think their are 5 or 6 of them).

2nd question: I want to applaud Echohawk on his awsome conversion list, thank you very much :D . I was trying to find out if anybody knows if anybody has done a similar list for other d20 products, and if so, some information on where to acquire that would be nice and extremely appreciated. (Again See Above)

3rd question: I tried to email this to the creaturecatalog site with no response yet, but just was seeing who runs the site, and I extremely apologize for this because I think I posted it once a few months back and I don't like to repeat myself, but how would I go along helping add to the Creature Catalog. I was especially interested in trying to get the 3.0's to 3.5. Not trying to step on anybody's toes if you know what I mean but I just would like to help. And once again sorry for repeating that question lol :p

A pre-emptive thanks to those who reply, i really appreciate it!

My understanding on helping out with the CC conversions is that you just post to one of the conversion threads, and BOZ and Shade add things to the CC when everyone is happy with the monster. The 3.0 to 3.5 conversions are on hiatus right now; the projects I know of are [thread=181191]Converting true dragons[/url] and Converting the Dukes of Hell threads. That said, there are various other people running non-CC conversions and/or monster creation threads here and in the homebrews forum.

Hello, I can answer a few of these questions.

BOZ and I did the bulk of the conversions to 3.5 for the Monster Geographica series. The monsters were gathered from a variety of OGL 3E sources, including the Tome of Horrors series. In some cases, the names had to be changed since they were closed content. So, some of the monsters within are updates of old official monsters (by way of the Tome of Horrors), but most of the others similarly named were new takes on familiar names from mythology and literature. This all happened before the Tome of Horrors 3.5 was released, so it's really no more (or less) official than that release, just a different take on updating the same creatures.

As for helping out the CC, freyar is correct. BOZ generally leads the conversion threads, and everyone is welcome to help out. Once we get a batch of 10 conversions, we post them to the CC. I'm running a conversion thread for the true dragons, and I post those to the CC after every one or two, as a batch of ten of those is too overwhelming to enter! :heh:

So feel free to participate in any of those threads. Currently, we're focusing on the Dukes of Hell, so the normal conversions are a bit on the backburner at the moment (with the exceptions of the true dragons).

Alrighty, thank you guys. One more quick question then and sorry that it is probably obvious and i overlooked it. I noticed the true dragons and demons in this section, but would the other go under converions or here too? And that's about it, also Shade thank you much for the Monster Geographica question, been wondering about that for awhile considering i have never seen the books in the stores in this area, i can only order them online and I haven't seen any reviews thus far for them or much info in general. Thanks again gents

Ok, off the topic for this thread, but I've been doing lots of research on the topic of the Electrum Dragon, and I've heard their are two types. Now I have looked in every Ruin of Myth Drannor Book I have and other books such as the fall and I do not see anything on him there. Dragon #74 has the one that was presented in the Monstrous compendium annual 1. I keep hearing their is another variety with electrical aptitude and I cannot find this, if anybody knows the exact location I would appreciate that. If their are two varieties, and I would have to see the other one, maybe adding the electrical breath weapon wouldn't hurt regardless because the metallics should have two breaths. The Electrum as of now has only the one gas of enfeeblment. Anyways any help would be appreciated and I think either Shade or RavinRay has a conversion, me would like to see that very much :D Thanks to any who answer this, it's been buggin me for ages.

edit: Just wanted to add that I forgot to mention the only electrical based Electrum I found was a fan done job back a few years back (looked like his own varieties). Everything I have found, including the Myth Drannor, was the philosopher. Correct me if i'm wrong on the electrical one though please, thank you.

The only references to electrum dragons I can find are in Dragon #74, Ruins of Myth Drannor and Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume One. I don't think that there is another official electrum dragon.

There's a reference in The Fall of Myth Drannor, but IIRC it just says that electrum dragons were created by the fusion of gold and silver dragons in some sort of arcane mishap (attack?). Nothing electrical there, I think.

Thanks all, that is what I was thinking (can't seem to remember where I seen someone mention an electrical Electrum lol.) Anyways I'm sure I have all the information I need then. Anybody on here do a conversion yet? If so where could I find that, thanks :p
