Quint Sorceror...??

Are you guys at Mongoose going to do a Quintessential Sorceror book? I think that this core class has great potential for various concepts and different bloodlines that could provide unique abilities as the sorceror gains new levels. Like, instead of it being dragon blood, perhaps its djinn blood, or elemental blood, or demon blood that powers the sorceror. Each bloodline could produce optional increases like bloodline feats and possible provide new metamagic feats that also go along these lines. Take it and run.

I like the idea about using different bloodlines to fuel the sorceror's power. Some def potential there! :)

Indeed there is. Probably why Green Ronin, Sword & Sorcery Studios, and FFG all have books out exploiting the idea. :)

Hi guys,

We have just (last week!) commissioned the writing of Quintessential Sorcerer - the task is being undertaken by Patrick Younts, he of Quintessential Monk fame, so you know it will be a good 'un!

The Quintessential Sorcerer will be available early next year.

EarthShadow:

Spells & Spellcraft from Fantasy Flight Games I know for sure exploits this idea.

Damnit, I'm sure I have at least one more that does, but I can't dig it up out of my collection by memory right now.

Which books explicitely use something like this?

FFG's Spells & Spellcraft has variants for 'faintblood' (standard sorcerer), dragon, fey, giant, and fiend blood. They give various bonuses & penalties (dragon-blooded sorcerers gain bonuses to bluff & intimidate, but make animals nervous, for example.)

Green Ronin's Hammer & Helm has various dwarven sorcery types done as feats: Flameborn, Seaborn, Skyborn, and Stoneborn Sorcery. Each feat switches the 'prime stat' from Charisma to something else, but prohibits a certain school.

Heck, the Forgotten Realms book at least implies that there are other sources for sorcery - the bloodline of fire feat boosts your Fire sorcerer spells.

Not sure what Sword & Sorcery product has them - probably R&RII, which I don't own.

Yes, R&RII has a sequence of feats that imply a relationship to a certain anscestry. When you take the feat, you obligate yourself to pursue a certain chain of spells, but you get bonuses related to your anscestry.
