R.A. Salvatore Launches RPG Kickstarter

Creator of Drizzt Do'Urden, prolific D&D novelist R.A Salvatore is raising funds for an expansion to his DemonWars roleplaying game. DemonWars: Allheart is described as "an old-school Tabletop Role-Playing Game, designed for small-group or solo play." It's the second in the DemonWars series, which is set in Salavatore's world of Corona in which he has set 11 novels, and allows you to play an Allheart Knight, with rules for jousting, fiefdoms, and blacksmithing.

He describes the game as a "throwback" RPG (by which I assume he means old-school) and says that "unlike many of the most recent entries in the tabletop RPG market, combat encounters are easy for a Game Master (GM) to prepare and adjudicate." The initial DemonWars RPG product was Kickstarted in 2013 with DemonWars Reformation, which featured monks and rogues.

Salvatore is, of course, best known in D&D circles for his Forgotten Realms novels, although his bestselling writing career has spanned far more than that.

The Kickstarter gets you a PDF for $25 or a hardcover for $45. (Thanks to Allan for the scoop!)

Anybody know what the interior art/layout quality of the first book in this series was like? I'm having a hard time finding any reference on that front.

The quality of the first book was excellent. A bit thicker than the standard D&D manuals, lots of great artwork and a good format.

I own the D20 versions of the Demonwars gaming books...very good stuff.

Edit: Though I do hope that RA can bundle the print with the PDF and offer it as a single price...
