Shoot.

Some odd bits floating about here and there

half orcs dropped because of the issue with the implied origins isn't 'solved' which is funny, given the most famous D&D half-elf.

elven paladin didn't have to worry about being slowed down by heavy armor as much. Why?

tiefling fighter intentionally built subpar. Hmm.

There's a few interesting tidbits:

1. Dwarves have slow movement.
2. She mentions a star-pact warlock and a fey-pact warlock.
3. Paladin powers: "Radiant Smite" and "Holy Strike"

The issue is the implied.. 'violence'.. of the implied origins - something not implied by half elves.

Rape is a possible origin for any character. It's just that with half-orcs it can be difficult to come up with any other.

Maybe elves have a higher base movement rate, so being slowed down by armor just puts them on par with everyone else? I hope elves don't get a special not-slowed-by-armor power like 3e dwarves have; that wouldn't make any sense for them.

For a moment I was worried that she was saying tiefling fighter is an underpowered combination. But then I noticed she said underpowered class/race/power combination, and I recalled the bit from the Confessions column where tieflings get an attack bonus after being hit. That would seem to work a lot better for a greatsword fighter than one with a shield, I mean why take a race that benefits from being hit and then do your best to avoid being hit? Perhaps that's what she was doing.

Yeah, I got the rape reference. It was just ridiculous when you think about the most well known D&D half-elf, who was also a product of rape.

Its also easily fixed in D&D terms if you look at Owlbears.
A wizard did it.
Done.

Unless you want to worry about the implied origins of the owlbear....

lol. Owlbears. I'm sad they are back, but oh well.

Anyhow, Rangers, from what we hear wont have mandatory spellcasting. So if you want to play a magic less ranger, thats entirely possible to do without leaving the baseclass. :)

Radiant Smite: I bet this causes blindness in foes, and damage to undead. Gah...to shiny a power for me.

I like the bit about the halflings having one of the most fun abilities in the game. That makes me happy inside.
