R.I.P. Mr. Tillman. :(

Figured this was the best place to post this. The USA lost a true role model and hero yesterday with the death of US Army Ranger Pat Tillman in Afganistan. I'm at a loss as to what to say about the man, so I'll just post a link to the CNN/SI story.

Ya, I saw that on ESPN earlier.

For those who do not know he was a Pro Football player who walked away from millions of dollars to join the Army. After 9/11 he felt it was his duty to serve his country. He joined shortly after his honeymoon. At the time it was an amzing thing, and actually is to this day. Very few people would put their dream on hold and millions of dollars to join the armed forces.

Now, I know little about his sports career but I remember reading a news article last year (or in '02?) about him and his brother joining the army.

He wasn't just a jock either. He had a pretty good GPA in school. An all around great guy.

It's a rare individual who will give up everything to pledge his life in defense of something he believes in. We've lost a true patriot.

It's a strong person who can walk away from a career that guarantees you a good life, in order to do something that you belive in. My hat is off to Mr. Tillman.

He like many others will be missed.

Now, how long before the networks make it into a movie of the week.

If they do, and I hope they don't, it would be unofficial. THere is no way the Tillman family would agree to it. It would be the last thing he would have wanted.
