Fimble clears his throat. "Ahem. Well, my thoughts on this are somewhat uninformed. But! We were hired by the city to do a job. We just encountered an extremely untrustworthy, unpleasant seeming fellow who appears to have given you some trouble in the past. I would be inclined, therefore, to assume that our employer is trustworthy and this... Dak fellow, is not. ... Though I don't doubt that our next step may be in the sewers, as we had previously guessed."

ooc: I'm still outside. I had a hunch that one of these guys might be tied into the Blackhawks, so I'm waiting to see if either of these guys caught my reference when I left and are willing to talk about it away from Tor and his scary chain.

Of course, if he just wants to leave, that's cool too.

"Well, even if the merchants council is filled with badguys, I'm still pretty sure the rats tried to kill Mr. Travers and were tied in with those hobgoblins. We could just table the politics for now and go into the sewers."

[sblock=Babette: ]ooc: I assume you mean the Blackwings?

Babette, still braving the dark and threatening skies out on the street, finally sees Dak exit the building. The young man scans the street in both directions, even looking up at the rooftops, before heading off. He notices Babette as he walks in her direction. "Your friends are deciding their fate inside, you might want to rejoin them," he utters as he passes by.[/sblock]

Fimble nods at the sewer suggestion. "Though it pains me to say so, I agree. But before we do that," he turns around to check the door, making sure that Dak has left the building, "Would somebody please tell me who that was, why we chased him, why we wanted to kill him," Fimble looks pointedly at Tor, "and why we don't anymore?"

"Oh, I never wanted to kill him. I dislike him, but I only wanted to question him. Sorry if I seemed to be changing gears pretty fast for a while there, I was trying to make him nervous enough to talk. We've had some dealings with Dak before... we've seen him talking to the rats, and circumstances suggest he helped set up an ambush in which his old boss was attacked by Hobgoblins. An ambush in which a man was killed, by the way... but we can't prove Dak's involvement."

"Oh, and also, as to Otto... I'm not sure who he was, but giving the bad guys the idea that Dak is a double agent seemed to be the fastest way to discourage them from helping him. It also cut off his alliances, which I hoped would get him desperate and talking."

"I think the rats may be wererats. At one point, I was thinking evil druids, but wererats seems to make more sense. Definitely literal rats though, whatever else they are."
