Rabbit monsters

Huw

First Post
I had a weird thought the other day. How many rabbit/hare based monsters are there in the genre. My off-the-top-of-my-head list was surprisingly long;

  • Wabbits (Gamma World)
  • Al-mi'raj
  • Jackalopes
  • Moon Folk (Magic: the Gathering)
  • Vorpal bunny (Monty Python)

I'm not counting furries (no Usagi Yojimbo or Redwall either), and I'm not sure whether to count the Watership Down bunnies. Still, can anyone think of more, especially any serious ones?

"Wabbits?" I remember the Gamma World games I played (the first two editions) having humanoid rabbits which were called "Hoops" and large rabbit riding mounts called "Hoppers." I'm assuming they were renamed in later editions, then?

Dragon Magazine also had a "Dragon's Bestiary" article called "Magical Crossbreeds" that brought the duckbunny into the AD&D game. (I know, because I was the one who inflicted it upon the world. Bwa ha ha ha!)

Oh, and the "bunny on the tree stump" monster that Shadeydm mentioned was the infamous wolf-in-sheep's-clothing.

Earthdawn has the 'Preces': Hares with poisonous barbs on their forelegs.

In one of Rolemaster's creature compilations there's stats for a 'killer rabbit' that was obviously inspired by the Monty Python movie.

The 'Beyond Zork' interactive adventure game has 'dust bunnies'.
