Races of Ansalon: I have it!

Is there much about the Qualinesti vs. Silvanesti, or are they considered the same?

About about the Dargonesti?

And the Irda? I've heard there are Changer Savant and Changer Adept feats. And that their shapeshifting ability has been redefined. Tell me more about them, please.

What about the minotaurs? Has the hooves vs. feet debate been resolved?

Do the Nzunta make an appearance?

What about the art? I didn't know this book had even been released yet..

I was actually planning a DL post at EN World. I saw posts at the DL Forums which seem to indicate that the DL license is being renegotiated, and nothing can be said at the moment. Unless I understood something incorrectly, it could mean the RPG isn't dead....which would seem to be in line with a WotC staffer statement on these boards weeks ago about them not having cancelled the license. That would be sweet, if true.

About about the Dargonesti?

There is a whole chapter on the elves, written by my friend Clark Valentine and full of background details and information about all of the elven races.

And the Irda? I've heard there are Changer Savant and Changer Adept feats. And that their shapeshifting ability has been redefined. Tell me more about them, please.

Irda now operate under the revised rules for the Change Shape special ability as per the official errata. The changer feats allow them greater access to shapeshifting.

Yes. Thoradorian minotaurs have hooves; other Imperial minotaurs have feet.

Do the Nzunta make an appearance?

Like the Mischta, they get a sidebar and rules variants on the standard Irda.

The renegotiation is referring to the discussions between WotC and MWP about renewing the license and so forth. I believe both parties have said all that they have to say about it for the time being. MWP will continue to produce DL product throughout 2007 and may sell the books until around March of 2008.

Cheers,

Heh.

Is there an explanation, perhaps tracing back to different amounts of transformation caused by the graygem passing over ogres?

Voadam, I can only post 10 posts in 24 hours AND I can't always keep track of how many posts I make in that allotted time. I mean there might be a time where I'm posting and then I have to do something else. This way, there's not a dispute for either me or the mods.

I'd have to look it up, but I'm pretty sure there's a reason. I just don't recall it off hand.

Cam,

Thanks for the help! :D Please don't shoot me for spilling the contents! :p ;)

Banshee,

Expanding on what Cam said, there are several sections on each elven race, and indeed discussion on what being a Dark Elf means in Dragonlance for each one. (Or rather the ones on land versus the ones in the sea.)

The Idra shapechanging has changed to conform to the new polymorphing rules. They get feats to help them change shape in terms of what they can change into more often.

I didn't read that closely on the feet thing, but if Cam says it's in there, then it must be!

Both the Nzunta and the Mischta have a joint side bar discussing their differences.

Ahrimon,

Half dwarves are the products of matings between humans and dwarves (usually Hill dwarves). They have a few of the same racial traits as normal dwarves (stability, weapon familiarity,) just not all the stats.

Very cool. I've always liked the Irda, and I'm eager to see how the Changer Savant and Changer Adept feats work. I read somewhere about the new Change Form ability, which lets them turn into humanoids, monstrous humanoids, and giant, instead of just humanoids....so now they can disguise themselves as fellow ogre-bred races...ogres and minotaurs. Maybe the Change feats will let them use animal forms, magical beasts etc.

Definitely plan on getting this book. Unfortunately, neither Amazon.ca or Chapters.ca seem to have it in stock yet, so it could be several weeks until I do.

I'm looking forward to reading about the Dargonesti as well.

Any sign of the Karnuthians? A minor race introduced in one of the novels with Kitiara, they're dark-skinned humans who can turn into panthers....but they're not lycanthropes.

A wise system for you to follow then with demonstrable compliance.

Thanks for the goblin info.

Banshee,

I don't recall seeing any mention of them in any of the chapters. They certainly weren't in the last chapter which was a culmination of those races I posted about earlier. So no. The Tarmaks and their "brethren" have their own section. Civilized humans and uncivilized humans are in the same chapter (marked as humans).

But I can honestly say I saw nothing about what you mentioned.

As for buying it via Amazon.CA, it might not be in stock since Cam and co released just the PDF, not the print version. I am right about that Cam...?

Vodam,

My pleasure. while I can't post as often, there's nothing to stop me from editing my posts to further elaborate on various issues/questions people might have.

I might not be a Cam (even though it's a nice name, so there really is no reason for me not to be one... ahem)

The PDFs are released when the books are approved by Wizards, and thus are available quite a bit before the print version (like 5 months with the last book... let's hope that doesn't happen again...) So, er, it's gonna take a while before print version is out (I'd guess early July for print, maybe, if we're lucky...)
