Races of Destiny available as pdf through Drivethrurpg

Cergorach

The Laughing One
I browse through this site on a daily basis (looking at new kewl stuff), i didn't expect to see anthing from WotC on drivethru after three months of hearing nothing after the release of frostburn.

http://www.drivethrurpg.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1704

Now, this is again priced at cover price $29.95, just like frostburn $34.95.

Will i buy it, yeah sure, just in the hopes of seeing books like MM3 and the FR books to be also released as pdfs.

Do i mind the price, not really, it just makes me think twice before i buy anything...

So what do you think? And please don't start the whole price discussion again, because we've had that 'ad infinitum'...

Thanks for the scoop, Cergorach. I was there just yesterday and didn't see that, I believe.

And I had heard a rumor WotC were disappointed with teh sales of the Frostburn PDF...

I don't see how 'disappointed' can be a logical reaction to any attempt to sell a PDF at the same price as the hardcover, TBH. <snip price-related observations which the OP didn't ask for :) ).

Overall I applaud the experiment and I'm sure this will lead to bigger and better things on the RPG eBook front, but there is no real attraction for me at this price point.

I have absolutely no idea why I should buy an eBook, especially one, I cannot even use freely, if I could have the real book for about the same price. :)

Bye
Thanee

i went to 2 Waldenbooks and 1 B.Dalton yesterday.

i was told in all three stores that the book hasn't been released yet.

even though, i know from threads all over the internet that people have it.

just another reason to buy online vs. at LGS.

Gee, a PDF at cover price? I wonder why sales might be poor.... (WTF were they thinking?!?)

I think Cergorachm asked to not bring up the price issue. ;)

I'm happy for this, the more WotC joins the "community at large" instead of being stand-offish, the better. I can barely afford the HB, so I can't buy it. But I might if I had the money. :\

You can't discuss full-price PDFs at Drive-thru without discussing price. It's like discussing baseball and not talking about the players.

What's the topic otherwise? Look! A PDF! That's just an ad.

Anyway, I imagine that people who have easy access to the physical book are not the main demographic of full-price PDFs from WOTC. I would think that would be a bigger deal for those who are overseas and would rather have a $29.95 PDF to print than to buy the book and ship it halfway around the world.

Would someone from Australia care to comment on shipping rates vs. printing costs?
