Racial Weapons Question

Dwarves get the dwarven waraxe and dwarven urgosh as martial weapons.

Gnomes get the gnomish hooked hammer as a martial weapon.

Shouldn't Orcs get the orcish doubleaxe as a martial weapon? (I don't have the 3.5 PH in front of me, but according to the SRD it is not.)

As I side note, I think dwarves should have an affinity for picks and/or hammers since that is closer to their underground tools. Axes would seem to have little use underground.

Depends on what "affinity" you mean. One thing is that all members of the race are proficient (free proficiency feat), another is that all warriors of that race are trained into the use, but not those which aren't warriors (weapon familiarity), and also there could be a straight bonus e.g. to attacks when using a certain weapon regardless of proficiency (would be a special racial feature).

So for the orc doubleaxe, you could give Orcs the Weapon Familiarity if you think that every single orc who takes up the warrior path would be trained into using one, or that at least doubleaxes are commonly found available in orcish villages/encampment and hence every fighter-type learns how to use them.

But it's not a big deal to leave them as they are. It might be that even if the weapon is of orcish origin, it's still as difficult for them as it is to anyone else to use it. Just like the doublesword for example.
