Is there anything in the rules that would stop a raging Barbarian form taking a 5' step in combat so that he could flank someone?

There's nothing I'm aware of that would prevent a barbarian from using some form of tactics while raging. He can still exploit some weaknesses in the target's position to his advantage.
Because a barbarian is listed as being unable to use Combat Expertise while raging, I'd consider barring any feat that requires Combat Expertise as a prerequisite. But that's about all I would remove as far as combat tactics.

Hold person comes to mind :D

Seriously, nothing in the rules states that the raging barbarian can't use basic tactics like flanking.

Are you one of those people that still thinks that rage turns a barbarian into a mindless, drooling idiot?

...cuz everybody knows that Barbarians are mindless drooling idiots to begin with.

Raging just makes them all frothy and googly-eyed! :D
