Maybe it'd be as simple (or not) as adding more keywords to the random dungeon name generator?

(It would certainly be as simple as making sure the formulas in my spreadsheet are working...)

But definitely, we'll add to it as we go along.

When I get home I'll let you guys know the parameters of the Randomizer so you can help fill it out.

I actually started working on my own at work today (basically had nothing to do today, and after reading ENWorld for 3 hours and constantly refreshing my user control panel got boring, I decided to try my hand at making a generator).

You can see the source lists here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pIzg2AbRx4lzCTFwiVdXdBA

I'm actually just using that as a working framework, I'm coding the actual generator in JavaScript.

I like Heroes of High Favor: Dwarves. The seven dwarf virtues are a neat touch -- do all the race books have this? I also like the 10 prestige classes that cross their favored class with every other PHB class.

Very cool structure for a book.

Shame about the gnomes. :(

Wulf and all,

That was a fun comepetition-I'll definitely be up for it again. I bet I can win without even having "a woman of loose virtue" in the title... ;) I'm a fan of Bad Axe Games so a free pdf is a great "consolation" prize...My email is: neosandstorm@gmail.com

Well, after finally tracking down and stamping out a nasty infinite-recursion bug, I've got my generator up and running.

I'm actually very happy with the results, especially with such a limited word list. One problem is that it often ends up with a structure like "The Attack of the Tome of the Fortress of the Demon" (actual example), but aside from the excess "of the"s I think it works.

Of course, it still has the whore factor, but now there's the added bonus of harlots as well! Like these two I generated:

The Terrible Whore and the Raven Virgin

The Corrupt Goblin Wizard and the Dragon Harlot

But here's some more examples.

The Burial of the Violet Prince
The Demon Sorcerer's Quest
The Feast of the Crow Jester's Painting
The Quest of the Vermin Church
The Geas of the Mysterious Kobold Taskmaster
The Raptor Rookery of the Vermin Devil Taskmaster's Fountain

That's really good, Asmor. And yet, until it can generate "What's That Smell?" can it ever truly be perfect?

EDIT: Though I got "The Kobold's Befouled Canyon" which sounds like it would smell pretty bad.

Hi all -
I'm looking forward to seeing the next incarnation of this, and hope that I'm able to find it in this molasses called EN World.
An idea I think might work is that while the titles are different, maybe names have to be used. Thus everybody has to use the name Trebek - and that could be the name of a hero, villian, dragon, nation, lake, river or whatever else.
Thus you give the person a random title, but then you also give them 5 names or other things that must be used. Such as the word "crest" and in their description they must use both Trebek and crest (not the toothpaste - so no "Dread Temple of the Frog Whore" where you come in on the high priest brushing his teeth). I also like the idea of giving them a party level for the target.
Also, I'd like to get in on this next time around. How does one hear about it (do you send a PM Wulf?)?
Finally, the loser (becasue really, Frog Sorcerer is not a loser title) should be required to write up a more in-depth background to their title. This way, it not only forces them to be better prepared but also to really work at it since we all have "real" jobs that don't support time for losing!
Be Well. Be Well Notified.

I kind of want to right up some short exposition on why mine said so little. I think perhaps we could spawn another " What's In a Name? " thread for adventure titles vs. content. For instance, I wanted " Frog Sorcerer " to be a moniker for a human sorcerer, but perhaps I should have gone for the more literally " sorcerer that is a frog " or bullywug sorcerer, because it requires no explaining as to why he is called that. Especially, since that seems to be what everyone assumed anyway, because of my poor description.

In any case, the only thing I might change is the time. Two hours, instead of one, so a person has the time to start over if they realize they are going in the wrong direction half way through. I realize perhaps that takes a little of Wulf's said capriciousness out of it, but to a certain extent is the contest just for laughs and giggles, or do we want to actually have a run between many good descriptions?
