I'm becoming less and less a fan of this style of random table. I think people should realize there is more than one type of random generation. Maybe the RPG community could even use some descriptive terms around them.

I enjoy random encounter tables more for inspiration then anything else. Everyone has their own preferences.

Don't get me wrong, I think random encounters are awesome. The way I prefer to use random tables these days is to use random tables to generate a random encounters tables.

But this takes a lot more tables, and definitely more time than grabbing a pre-made random table and going with it. So although I'm "less" of a fan, I agree they can still be great.
