Random Wands and Scrolls

Maybe I just missed it, but is there a way to generate random wands and scrolls with just the PFRPG core rules?

I was generating some treasure this weekend and dismayed to find the tables I need to randomly generate were not all present where I thought they would be. I was hoping I just missed them.

I would as well. I can get by using the old chart from the 3.x DMG (that is in fact what I did this weekend). But it would be nice to have an updated random chart for PFRPG, due tot he fact that several spells have been changed in name, some have been dropped and a few new ones have been added. But it is not a deal break for me. I just thought it odd that it was not included.

I was disappointed to find there is no random TREASURE generator in the core book. PFRPGs method of treasure generation is "use this table for a guideline on how much each encounter is worth", which is fine, but not nearly as cool as tables (esp. the MIC's table, which is a one-roll deal. Thank Orsiris for backwards compatibility)

"Treasure" should never be random, other than Gems, coins, jewelry, and non magical items.

Doing magic randomly is how DM's get "bit" in their nether regions. All awarded magical items should be a conscious decision on the DM's part, and if it is a conscious decision, then it is not "random" so no such charts are needed.

However, if you truly do wish to do such random awards, go hound Paizo on their own boards, they will respond.

This isn't true for all types of games.

Maybe not, plus its a choice of flavors thing, like I will often use the random charts, and as long as it comes up with something I find acceptable, I'll use it. So I understand the appeal of randomly rolling, but I never adhere to what is rolled unless I think its appropriate, no matter what the game system is.

I really REALLY wanted to fit random treasure generation tables into the book, but it simply wasn't something we had room to do fully when it came to potions and wands and scrolls. Which still saddens and annoys me. Fortunately, the tables in the DMG still mostly work for rolling these up if you want, although that kind of defeats the purpose of "one book only" and doesn't help new players who don't own the DMG at all.

A friend of mine actually built a random treasure generator website for the PRPG. I don't think it's really intended for the public, but it DOES work really well and so I'm positive that it's just a matter of time before one DOES get out into the public.

AND: I'm not sure, but including some sort of random treasure table thing or something is perhaps something we'll be able to fit into the upcoming Gamemastery Guide... but no promises there, alas...

You know that equipment book you guys have on the schedule? The one inspired by the Aurora's Whole Realms Catalogue book? Put the tables in there. Even if you have to change the price point by a couple of dollars.

Put all of the charts, though. Not just the missing ones, for convenience of having them all in one place.
