Ranged attack of opportumity?

I had a friend in an old D&D group have a feat that let him get an attack of opportunity with his bow on anyone who passed within 30ft of him. Is this a real feat, or was he making it up and the DM was letting it slide? Anyone that knows of this feat, please let me know because I am considering it for my archer.

theirs a prc in feyrun that lets you get reach 15 feat out with your bow. I think it was silver marches.

It also got power attack with a bow too, i think.

I don't know any feats that do that, but there are one or two (maybe three?) prestige classes out there that grant the ability, at some level or another, to make a ranged attack of opportunity in some circumstances (for example, I think the Order of the Bow Initiate gets the ability to make a ranged AoO against someone who provokes an AoO in melee from an ally within 30 or 60 feet).

There are NO OFFICIAL FEATS that let you threaten a '30 range to get AoOs.

The Arrow Mind from Complete Adventurer (Ranger lv.1 spell) lets you threaten a normal area (typically '5, but bigger for larger creatures as per their normal reach). So that would enable you to get AoOs, but not out to 30' (unless somehow you were large enough to have a 30' reach with a normal melee weapon).

The Peerless Archer a 3.0 Prestige class (from the FR Silver Marches book) does let you threaten an area, but not 30'. I don't have the book so I don't have specific information, but I think they threatened 10'-15', but not at 5' or something like that.

Order of the Bow Initiate, gets an ability where they don't draw AoOs when firing their bow in a threatened area, but it doesn't enable them to threaten an area. I will check, but I'm fairly certain they don't get any ranged AoO abilities.

PHB II has some class ability substitutions IIRC where in exchange for giving up an animal companion, if a Ranger scores a hit with a missile weapon the opponent is considered flanked for a round.

I suspect that your friend has either made something up or is confusing the 30' limit on sneak attacks with missile weapons for having a 30' AoO range.

I know what you mean... I used to game with a guy who had that feat in his binder full of other feats you could take. I never really found out where he found it originally though.

I don't know that name. His name is Normy, or at least thats what we call him (never did find out if that was his real name or not). Haven't played with him in a couple years now though. He did have a big binder with a ton of feats in it though.

Hmmm, the player in question had a big binder full of feats? Then this was possibly Opportunity Shot from the Netbook of Feats.
