Ranged Half Elf Brutal Scoundrel

I am thinking Half Elf Daggermaster with Twin Strike at Level 11.
Hand Crossbow in off-hand for when the 18-20 crits come.
And thrown dagger from 12 squares (Distant Shot, Far Throw) twice per round with Twin Strike.

Then at level 16 each crit also gives you CA (which is not far off a 1 in 3 chance), and with Distant Advantage you should have ranged CA a lot of the time (ie. Safer).

Add in Brutal Advantage and you can add in Strength damage to the extra attack that doesnt deal SA damage.

So I see this as quite a viable Brutal Scoundrel (Ranged) build who only enters the fray when he needs to get CA.

PLus you can now see a better return on all those Crit based feats like RWP and DC etc and of course 2 fisted shooter.
Plus Weapon Expertise and Weapon Focus on Dagger.

Actually, it is less than a 1 in 6 chance, so less than half as likely as you expect.

18-20 = 15%
1 in 6 = 16.66%

2 Attacks using Twin Strike
Both with 15% Daggermaster chance per attack of a Crit
I am no mathematician but thats got to be close to 30% (1 in 3 allmost) chance of getting in "One" crit on your turn.

OK, I see what you mean. The maths you want is 85% * 85% = 72% which isn't that far off 1/3.

However, if the paragon path is daggermaster, and the twin strike is the half-elf 'get an at-will as an encounter', then you only get the twin strike once per encounter.

So using twin strike would only give you a crit on average on 3 out of every 10 encounters. Not something to build a class concept around, surely?

It isn't as if the brutal scoundrel isn't a viable class anyway though, is it?

I think the idea is to use a feat from the PHB2, which supposedly improves the Half-Elf racial ability somehow, most likely by letting you use the chosen At-Will power from the other class At-Will. And yes, Twin Strike and Righteous Brand seem like the most obivous candidates to me.

Or obviously you can go all the way to Paragon Multiclassing and replace an at-will with one of the other class. It does eat up 4 of your 7 feat slots, but you also get the encounter power and a skill out of it.

The character could take Versatile Master (PH2 Paragon Feat, Half-Elf) which allows using your Dilletante power as an at-will. The highest-damage build I've seen so far now surpasses Stormwarden (even with Throw Caution to the Wind)... a Half-Elf Brutal Rogue with Twin Strike and Daggermaster. It's a little sick. (The feat has ADDITIONAL benefits if you Paragon Multiclass, but who does that? :))
